Tales of Xillia is ‘Next Tales of’s’ real name

My review on Heavy Rain & thoughts on it.

Okay first off just to let everybody know I rented this game & I don't own it. But yea as far as how much I like it I think it's really good. The gameplay is pretty good & will always keep you on your feet & I literally mean that at times. It not that long of a game actually. You could probably go through one playthrough in one whole day. I would say in about time length it is about 8-10 hour game. There is always action in it & it really is fun & will have you ask a bunch of question the more you get into.

Now on to story (Warning little SPOILERS)

You start out play as Ethan Mars who is the father of two little boy's named Shaun & Jason. At the beginning you first wake up & get Ethan ready for his child Jason birthday party. There is some brief Nudity at this part where you actually have to get Ethan in the shower. The crazy thing is it covers out the penis area with stuff in the  background. But yea get Ethan ready for his son birthday party & do different things like sitting the table. Also another thing Ethan is a guy that does designs for building house so you can also go to his study & help him finish up the design for the latest house he is building. After going through the first part which is mostly a tutorail on how to play the game & basically & preparing for your child birthday party you then have to go through this whole mall scene where Jason goes missing after you give him a bloom. (SPOILER HERE) At this part in the game once you find his son Jason. He then gets hit by a car & dies & the father Ethan goes into a coma for about a year or so. That then ends the prologue. Now you fast forward 2 years later & play as Ethan some more only to figure out that cause of the accident now he has blackouts & actually thinks he the main serial killer of the game your looking for know as the Origami killer. After play for awhile Ethan son Shaun then goes missing & you figure out he is the next kidnapped victim of the Origami Killer. You also play as 3 other Characters. A detective know as Scott Shelby, a report know as Madson Paige, & a FBI agent (with really sweet 3D high-tech glass know as ARI) know as Norman Jaydeen. each character has there own part to the story & different stuff you can do with them. This game has a ton of different ending & a bunch of different cutscences you can unlock every time you playthrough the game. Trust it's another to keep you coming back to play through multiple playthroughs. 

The story get's 9 from me. Not perfect but really great & interesting.

Now onto gameplay

The gameplay in this game is really fun & interactive. Like I said in the beginning it's enough to keep you on your feet. It has to way's to play it. One way just using the regular PS3 controller & another way is using the PSMove (Playstation Move). Both way's are fun but using the Move can sometimes be a very big headache. Especially during scenes where the action you make can really count toward wither your character dies or not. Using the controller is much easier, but using the Move add more depth & action to the game & makes you at times feel like your really apart of the game. (side note the crazy thing is I did better with the move then I did with the regular controller) The gameplay pretty much explains it self. It tell you what button to press & how press it when the command comes on screen. Movement is a bit awkward at times & can sometimes make your character pace back & forth. You move by holding done the R2 button then using the left analog to choses what direction you want to go in. With the Move you just use the left analog on your regular PS3 controller to move (if you don't have the navigator controller that is like me). You can also examine the person thoughts your playing as by holding down the L2 button & then pressing or aim towards the correspondent  thought you want to choose. 

All & all I give the 8. There still some problems with the gameplay especially when using the move that need to be worked out but other then that it register really well & play's smooth most of the time.

Now onto sound

First off let me start by saying this has to be the best sound I have heard in a video game for awhile it's almost on par with MGS4 sound quality. The music in it really fit's the game. The put the right music for the right situation. The voice work is top notch & fit's most of the characters. Some times it cause of how well the sound & voice work is you don't even feel like your playing a game but watch a interactive movie. Then did a really good job on the script for this game & it really fit's most of the character. Some people cursing & swearing more then others. I was just in awe at the amazing audio in this game. Atleast in English I have yet to put the voice in any of the other 3 languages you can put it in. Which are French, Dutch, & Spanish. 

All in all I would have to give the audio 10. The script was well done & the music was greatly put together for the right scenes.

Now on to the final topic GRAPHICS

I well say the graphic's in this game are really well down but at times I felt it could have been better with certain thing. The facial expression in the game a really good. I was looking at a making of the game & for the facial expression & most of the other movement in the game they used motion capture techonolgy. But yea they really look realistic at times & the environments are well put together. The graphic are the best I have seen on a PS3 game but they aren't bad ether. My most complaint is about th cloths. The design for the cloths is not really realistic. Trust me one you putting a shirt or taking it off you will see that the cloths become very stiff & it's like they look frozen. Other then that complaint the graphic look really good especially when play in HD. 

All in all I would have to give the graphics 9. There not horrible & but there not the best ether. But they are amazing though.

As for a total score I would have to give Heavy Rain a 9. It's a really good game & has alot of reply value especially if your one to go for platinum trophies in a game. Which before I forget the trophy list in the game except for like 5 or 6 trophies are mostly Hidden Trophies.

Also as a side note this game is really not for little children I mean really not for them. It has a lot of swearing, alot of mentioning of drug use & alcohol use, some brief nudity scenes. One part where you actually have to strip naked as Madson. So I would not recommend letting a child under the age of 15-6 to play this game. Trust me I was barly letting my 2 littlest brother watch me play this game. So yea that a HEADS UP that THIS GAME IS NOT I REPEAT NOT FOR CHILDREN.
